Apparently it&#8217;s a big deal for designers down there, with over 5,000 daily visitors from all over the world. The art\/design section was co-curated by Chinese bad-ass artist Ai Wei Wei, who didn&#8217;t actually have the chance to curate that much since he was <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ai_Weiwei#2011_arrest\" target=\"_blank\">arrested<\/a> that year.<br \/>\nAnyway, the sponsors were mostly hi-tech and phone companies so I thought it was the perfect event for the unveiling of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phonestory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Phone Story<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The problem was that I had to fill quite a lot of space with a tiny mobile game so I asked them to build a sort of fake Apple Store, with minimal design and blinding lights. It turned out pretty well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.molleindustria.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gwangju-design-biennale-korea.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.molleindustria.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gwangju-design-biennale-korea.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"gwangju design biennale korea\" width=\"760\" height=\"760\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.molleindustria.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gwangju-design-biennale-korea.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.molleindustria.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gwangju-design-biennale-korea-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.molleindustria.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/gwangju-design-biennale-korea-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note: the first version of Phone Story featured Steve Jobs&#8217; disembodied head talking (in Korean) over an hypnotic spiral.
